Dudley is A Place To share, micro-fund and learn! Over just two weeks, 3 of the projects we are supporting are hosting activities. They’d love you to get involved and spread the word.
Trade School Dudley classes will take place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 December. If you or any of your family or friends have a skill or talent to share and would like to teach a class we’d love to hear from you.
This Sunday a new project designed using our Activate process will be live tested in Dudley. Gather Sunday is an idea developed by Stu Homer and Loraine Stockton, the team behind Gather Dudley. It is invitation for people to come together and share food, music and friendship.
We want to connect Incredible people from across Dudley borough. Whether you grow in your own garden, on an allotment, in public spaces, or through a community growing project we’d love to meet you. We’re coming together on the evening of Thursday 3 November at Gather, a new hive of inspiration on Dudley High Street which also has great coffee.
A few people are getting together this Thursday to plan the second round of Trade School Dudley classes. If you are interested in teaching a class or finding out more join us for cuppa at Gather, a new coffee shop on Dudley High Street which will open next week (we’ve got special entry).
As Autumn approaches people are thinking about things they can do indoors which bring people of all ages and backgrounds together. This month Halloween craft activities are taking off in Lye and Brierley Hill.
Over 60 people packed into the hall at DY1 on Stafford Street last night to be part of Dudley’s first ever grassroots micro-funding dinner hosted by Dudley SOUP. On arrival everyone was asked for a £5 funding donation, which generated a £321 pot for local projects to pitch for. 4 ideas had been selected by the SOUP team to pitch on the night.
Dudley SOUP was catalysed by Dudley CVS staff leading A Place To and Active Citizens work in Dudley. One of many inspiring ideas we have helped bring to life in Dudley.
The 15 people who came along to the two Activate sessions last week told us that they really enjoyed the positivity, learning about different ideas, and meeting and connecting with likeminded and interesting people. Four of the fabulous ideas being bought to life are starting in and around Dudley town centre. There are all sorts of opportunities to bring your skills, knowledge and talents to them and to join the teams which may seek a little support from the Active Citizens fund to sustain the projects.
Our first Bring & Share Supper was a great success, bringing together 11 people and 4 project ideas – from community growing and monthly meals to support for Roma families and a Cat Cafe!
